A NEW APPROACH TO ADULT LEAGUE HOCKEY
Last year, The Bremerton Ice Center had four teams with a fifth team when the youth midget B played. Over the past three years we have seen great improvement in our talent pool of players. These improvements are now starting to impact the way past, present, and future players are considering signing up for league play. Whether these player feel that that they have lost a step, are to new to hockey or it is not competitive enough for them to play, they need the opportunity to play.
To accomplish this will take three things:
1. We will now be dividing the league into two Divisions, An Open Division and aRecreational Division.
A. The Open division is designed for teams that have players that wish to play at a high level of competition. Players that have played club, college, semi-pro, or have these skills should play in this division.
B. The Recreational division is designed for players that wish to play at a low level of competition. Players that have never played, have a few years under their belt or players wishing to get back into the game should play in this division.
This will give players a choice for what level they want or can play at. We might only have 3 teams in each in each division but it will allow for growth.
2. We need players to start thinking ahead and get signed up by the sign-up deadline date. In the past, players waited till the last minute to sign, causing us to delay the start date of the league. This can no long happen as in the winter time, the ice gets very limited and it is getting hard to push start dates back.
With these few changes and you help, we hope to see the adult league take that next step forward so that all of us players can enjoy the opportunity to play. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the hockey director and he will do his best to answer them. See you on the ice!
